Momentum is an invitation into your somatic intelligence and dancing self, while gaining greater insight into how your system speaks with itself and the world around you.
Integrating Internal Family Systems (IFS) as an embodied practice with Movement Medicine brings a particular somatic and systemic weave that encourages kindness and understanding alongside permission and freedom of expression. We will dance to surrender ourselves to the intelligence of our awake moving bodies, allowing the spirit of the dance to hold and weave us. Moving into embodied IFS practice, so any parts of us that are ready to come and dance can be welcomed and understood, then offered care and appreciation. Thereby supported to move from compulsion to choice, from overwhelm and overstretch to agency and capacity. Leaning into the resource of our dancing village so collectively we can move from activation and separation to calm and connection. Giving space and permission for the tides and rhythms of our own nature while meeting the ebb and flow of life around us.
This is precious time to revive ourselves in the medicine of the dance and goodness of human care and companionship. So we can re-enter the world and our communities better equipped to support that which brings life, connection and joy.
Movement Medicine unites the liberation of free dance with the awareness of mindfulness, the depth of therapeutic understanding and intelligence of shamanic practice. This is supported by the compassion and inclusivity of IFS that helps us to listen to our internal system and how it relates to the external world. Creating a trauma informed, nervous system aware environment that supports us to explore our humanity and emotional terrain with courage, compassion and curiosity.
If possible we suggest you attend the Friday evening as well as the Saturday and Sunday for the workshop as it gives more time to arrive in your dance and you are likely to get more from the weekend. The Friday evening will include some of the fundamental practices of Movement Medicine that will support us to arrive and land in the dance before diving into the weekend on Saturday.
“... it has changed me, and given me access to experiences, both joyful and tender, in ways I never thought possible.” Natalia Whately
